Which One Doesn't Belong? - SLJ

Hey guys! It's your girl! Anyway, today for the Summer Learning Journey, we have been doing something called Which One Doesn't Belong? This was a maths activity. I decided to do maths because I like doing maths! So, as I was doing this, I felt amazed of how easy it was!

Please look at my slides under this text!

So, did you like it? Please comment down below! For the next maths activity from the Summer Learning Journey page, I am looking forward for a challenge. I really like doing challenges because it helps me understand it more so I can get better at it! What maths do you think is really easy for you and what challenge are you looking forward to? Please reply! I will see you guys in the next blog post I will make!

Until now, Peace Out Peeps!

  1. Kia ora Nishka,

My name is Shannon and I’m from the Summer Learning Journey.

You’ve done a fantastic job highlighting who doesn’t belong in each picture! I like how you’ve explained why in such great detail.

I agree, the Santa without the present sack stands out! And as for the icecreams, they all seem to belong and don’t belong at the same time.

In your own image, I think the black one doesn’t belong. All the remaining ones are white. Or maybe it’s the circle, the only shape that doesn’t have any corners. Which one do you think doesn’t belong and why?

I see you also really like maths! What’s your favourite thing to do in maths?

    Happy blogging!

    Ka kite anō,
    Shannon (SLJ)

    1. Hi Shannon,

I am Nishka and thank you for commenting on my blog post! I think the circle and the pentagon don't belong because circle's don't have corners and the pentagon is black while the others are white.

What I like doing in maths is doing times tables/multiplication! I say multiplication is fun because I already know my multiplication up to 12! My favourite multiplication is the 12 times table because it is very easy!

What do you like about maths? Please reply back to me! Bye!

    2. Hi Nishka,

I like the multiplication tables too. My favourite is the 9 times table. I like it because when you add the digits in each multiple, they equal 9. So 2x9 is equal to 18, and if you add the 1 and the 8, you get 9. It's the case for every multiple of 9 which is super cool!

Is math your favourite subject? If not, which one is? Mine is economics. I study it at university!

      Bye for now,
      Shannon (SLJ)

    3. Hi Shannon,

Thank you for replying! Maths is my favourite subject because you get to learn new things each day in school! My favourite is addition and multiplication! addition is really easy and simple to do! Addition is just adding the the numbers in a snap! Like 346 + 642 = 988. Really easy and simple to do.

Why do you like economics? Please reply back to me! Bye for now!

    4. Hi Nishka,

Maths is pretty cool! I quite like it too! What other subjects do you like?

I like economics because its all about how markets work and things like that which I find super relatable. So for example, one really important part of economics is that it decides how many of a certain product (say apples) to sell by looking at two things: firstly how much people want to buy it (i.e. the DEMAND for it) and secondly how much producers can give to (or grow for) the supermarkets to sell (i.e. the SUPPLY of it). From these, it tries to find a happy number where the amount supplied is the amount demanded so there are no extra apples left over at the supermarket going to waste, but still enough that everyone who wants one can get one. Its called an EQUILIBRIUM. They're super important for making sure everyone gets everything they need and want!

I also really like it because it helps you make choices, and understand how things work. It was really important when we went into lockdown because economics helped make sure lots of people could still feed their families and that people could keep their jobs too.

It's a bit hard to explain why I like it because I like so many different things about it! But perhaps my favourite part is how it can explain how people are likely to react to events and things, a bit like fortune telling.

      Does that make sense?

Sorry I think I got caught in an economics tangent! I just really love it!

Hope to hear back from you soon!
